Karadayan Nombu Adai

Karadayan nombu is a major Tamil festival celebrated during the Meena Sankranti This is also known as the ‘Savithri Vratham’ or ‘Savithri Nombu'.

What is Karadaiyan Nombu?

Sweet adai is made with rice flour, jaggery and karamani. Salt adai is made is with rice flour and seasonings. 

Sweet Adai and Salt Adai

Roast the rice flour in low heat. 

Step 1

Soak the karamani overnight and then cook it until soft. 

Step 2

Melt the jaggery and add the karamani and the rest of the ingredients.

Step 3

Shape the adai and steam it in instant pot or steamer

Step 4

For the salt adai, fry the seasonings and then add water and rice flour and  cook. Shape the uppu adai and steam

The adai is now ready
