Dhidir Aval – Quick Vellam Aval – No Cook Sweet Aval

Instant Sweet Poha or Quick Vella Aval is a no cook sweet aval which is made a lot during festival season. It is a good snack for the kids and takes 15 minutes to make. It can be a good after school snack for that reason. It has only four ingredients which makes is very easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Aval / Beaten rice flakes
  • ½ cup Jaggery crushed
  • ¼ cup Coconut grated
  • 2 Cardamom pods removed and crushed

Instructions

  • Wash the aval well and drain it. Leave it for few minutes to absorb the moisture and soften. If using medium thick aval, you might need to sprinkle some water and let it soak for 10-15 minutes. The aval should be just soft and not mushy.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Check for sweetness and adjust based on your liking.
  • Serve the Dhidir Aval immediately.
