These 3 Ingredient Chocolate Covered Pretzels actually can go under 2-ingredient recipes. This week, I am working on 3 ingredient recipes, and after the 3 Ingredient Old Fashioned Kettle Corn Popcorn and 3 Ingredient Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, I am posting this very tempting pretzel recipe.

A little background about our family's relationship with pretzels is important before we get to the recipe. I have never liked the crunchy pretzels ever and never bought them until my little one tasted them for the first time in his preschool and started to love them.

He would cry for the pretzels every time we went shopping. Since none of the others at home (me, my husband, and my older one) really cared about pretzels, we never bought them frequently.

Maybe keeping my little one off the pretzel made him even crazier about it. He absolutely loves it, and it is a regular in our house. There is a bag of pretzels always in the pantry, and my little one is the only person who eats them.

Why make these chocolate pretzels

Now the story is different when it comes to chocolate-coated pretzels. Everyone in the house is crazy about it, and the whole batch is finished before I know it.

I am the only one who still has nothing to do with it, and I am not fighting along with them to decide who gets the last piece. This time, I made a small batch as I was making it for the first time, and it was gone within minutes.

I used both milk chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate chips to coat the pretzels. You could use all semi-sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate, or any chocolate of your choice.

Make sure you melt the chocolate using the correct technique. I melted mine in the microwave. We could also use the double boiler and melt the chocolate. I made about 24 chocolate-covered pretzels yesterday.

Procedure -

  • Gather all the ingredients and keep them ready. Layer a baking sheet with parchment and keep it ready. We will be placing the chocolate-covered pretzels on this to harden.

  • I used the microwave to melt the chocolate. Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. I used both semi-sweet chocolate chips and Hershey's Milk chocolate bar.
  • Microwave the chocolate for a minute at 50% power. Remove it from the microwave and stir well. Now return to the microwave and heat it in 20-second intervals at 50% power level until the chocolate has melted completely. It took me about 2 minutes and 30 seconds to melt the chocolate completely. Make sure you stir the chocolate well after each round of heating.
  • Drop a pretzel into the melted chocolate and coat it entirely with the chocolate. Use a fork and take the coated pretzel out. Let it drip for a couple of seconds and then place the pretzel on the prepared tray. Repeat the same with the rest of the pretzels.
  • Sprinkle the sprinkles over the coated pretzels. Place the pretzels in the refrigerator for about an hour to harden.

  • They remain fresh in an airtight container for about a couple of weeks. If the temperature is warm, then I would store them in the refrigerator as they could melt.

  9. I love these pretzels but we don't get them in Mombasa. Once I bought a saltless packet and it tasted so bland, didn't know what to do with them. Wish I had your recipe back then, would have dipped them in chocolate and they would have disappeared in no time.
